Colorado Soaring is dedicated to the scientific and educational study of soaring flight, aviation safety education, and information relevant to soaring flight opportunities in Colorado and the surrounding regions. Soaring flight allows early entry into aviation education for youth, yet extends into the exotic extremes of competition and records that test the limits of human experience and knowledge.
Colorado Soaring encompasses all interested Colorado soaring pilots and representatives of established Colorado soaring services organizations; including clubs, commercial operations, and the SSA appointed governor and record keeper for the state of Colorado.
Frank Whiteley is the current Soaring Society of America State Governor for Colorado and works to coordinate soaring programs, issues, and awareness within the state. He also serves as chair of the SSA State Governors and Record Keepers Committee and other related voluntary committees and groups within the US soaring community.
The Soaring Society of America is the national voluntary organization that promotes and supports all aspects of soaring in the United States. It is delegated the sporting authority by our national aero club, the National Aeronautic Association, our member of the Federation Aeronautique Internationale.
